Diagonal cutters, sometimes referred to as diags or dikes (DIagonal CutterS) work by indenting and then wedging the wire ends apart as opposed to cutting in the same manner as scissors. Using a high quality cutter will ensure that your tool is not damaged while in use, although using the tool correctly and for the right kind of wire helps too.
