  • Safer for coating and corrosion removal than wire wheels and cups
  • Extra coarse mineral and low conformability provide strong cutting action
  • Tough, layered, unitized construction can operate clockwise or counterclockwise directions
  • Resists heat buildup and loading on soft coatings, allowing prolonged operation and consistent coating-removal over the life of the product
  • Plastic core may be run on feed through equipment, so operators can clean cylindrical parts
Overview
Scotch-Brite Clean and Strip Rim Wheel is a hard, open-web wheel designed for aggressive cleaning applications. The layered unitized construction and hard 7 density, with low conformability, renders this wheel a sharp-cutting abrasive product that can swiftly and effectively remove coatings.

Cleaning Welds, Removing Rust and Paint
The extra coarse (XCS) silicon carbide mineral and tough, dense web on our Scotch-Briteâ„¢ Clean and Strip Rim Wheel effectively removes scale, rust, surface contaminants, paints and coatings from a variety of substrates. The dense, open-web and sharp mineral produce a wheel that runs smoothly and resists loading, even when removing soft coatings. We intersperse silicon carbide mineral on non-woven nylon fibers and combine them using resin. Layering the material means you get a wheel that is stronger, tougher and more durable than individual discs.

Rim Wheels
3M offers a variety of rim wheels for hard cleaning and removal of rust, paint and other coatings. Rim wheels are aggressive non-woven wheels utilizing Scotch-Briteâ„¢ Clean and Strip material. The Scotch-Briteâ„¢ Clean and Strip Rim Wheel differs from the Scotch-Briteâ„¢ Clean and Strip Unitized Wheel in terms of its core and the tools it may be used with. We engineer our rim wheel by installing a plastic core within the unitized material which can then be reduced with flanges for your equipment shaft size. Rim wheels are commonly used on feed through equipment for processing cylindrical parts.

The Many Benefits of Open Web Abrasives
Non-woven technology makes our Scotch-Briteâ„¢ industrial abrasives unique. A combination of fiber strands, resin, and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity.

Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life. Scotch-Brite products not only enhance productivity, but also increase operator safety by reducing the need for cleaning chemicals and pastes, and replacing wire brushes that can break off and cause injury. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, deburring, and more, Scotch-Briteâ„¢ abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
